CRYSTA Lab Water Purification System

Ultra pure water (Type I) and pure water (Type II) is a vital resource for every scientific application. The CRYSTA Series is a line of lab water purification systems that will deliver the best technical results for your lab water purification needs. The CRYSTA 500, 1000, and 2000 water purification systems complement Aurora’s existing line of high precision instruments and produce high quality ultrapure water (Type 1) and pure water (Type 2) to serve three different areas of laboratory applications. These range from general pure lab water use in buffer preparation and high purity glassware rinsing to critical use in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR).

Type I water can be divided into two ultrapure categories. Analytical grade Type 1 water required for applications such as Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Ion Chromatography (IC), or Electromagnetic Spectroscopy must be particulate free (0.22 µm particles <1/mL) and virus free (<1/mL). Critical use, ultra-purified Type I water required for critical applications such as PCR, HPLC, Electrophoresis, Solid Phase Extraction (SPE), and total organic carbon (TOC) analysis must also be endotoxin and RNase free (<0.001 Eu/mL). Type II water must be deionized with low inorganic and organic components (TOC <0.2 mg/L) and resistivity (>MΩ-cm at 25ºC). Type 2 water is suitable for general laboratory applications such as buffer preparation, pH solution preparation, glassware rinsing and media preparation.

Aurora’s CRYSTA Series is an accurate and reliable line of high quality lab water purification systems complementary to Aurora’s VERSA mini-PCR, Nucleic Acid Prep and Liquid-Liquid Extraction instruments. Each CRYSTA pure water filtration system produces highly purified water at a reliable, efficient and robust rate that meets the American Standard for Testing & Materials water purity specifications. The CRYSTA Series also surpasses the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute specifications for Type 1 water and Type 2 water resistivity levels. It accomplishes this by using a unique network of filtration mechanisms to maximize water resistivity and yield low total organic carbon concentrations.

The CRYSTA 500 uses a 6 step water filtration system to purify tap water into reverse osmosis water which undergoes additional purification to produce Type 2 deionized water. The CRYSTA 1000 system uses Ultrapure Polishing Cartridges to produce Type 1 ultrapure analytical grade water. The CRYSTA 2000 system uses advanced 5000 Doulton Ultrafilters and Double Wavelength Ultraviolet Lamps to produce the purest Type 1 ultrapure water. The CRYSTA 2000 is ideal for use in the most critical applications in PCR and HPLC which require an ultrapure grade of Type I water.

All three CRYSTA systems are a proven cost-effective, quality and high performance water purification system developed to deliver significant value to your lab. The CRYSTA 1000 and 2000 require either reverse osmosis or deionized water as their input source, and can be used in tandem with the CRYSTA 500 to create a complete water purification system.
The CRYSTA Series also features special attributes that allow consistent delivery of high quality pure lab water for better technical results. A timed dispense mode allows for walk-away unattended operation, innovative cartridge monitoring systems ensure high purity standards are met, and a real time display lets you actively monitor water purity. The CRYSTA Series is a dependable, high quality and high performance lab water purification system that will meet and exceed the demands of all of your pure water requirements.

Crysta 500

The Crysta 500 produces both deionized and reverse osmosis Type 2 pure water directly from tap water. Using a stepwise filtration system that allows for exceptional purifying efficiency, it produces Type 2 water at a desalination rate of ≥99% and a virus elimination rate of ≥99.5%. The Crysta 500 delivers this water at the touch of a one-button dispense option and is ideal for general scientific applications in media preparation and high purity glassware rinsing.

Key Features

  • Automatic reverse osmosis membrane flush after system is turned on and after each dispensing use
  • Automatic production of reverse osmosis water for storage in internal tank
  • Timed dispense mode for convenient walk away unattended operation
  • Auditive alarm for cartridge change when resistivity drops below users preset values
  • One touch automatic dispensing option in multiple modes
  • Real-time display of water resistivity, outlet temperature, total dissolved solid concentrations of inlet and outlet water, and remaining cartridge longevity

General Applications

  • Microbiology media preparation
  • Reagent preparation
  • High purity glassware rinsing
