Swine Influenza A virus H1N1 Diagnostic Kit (RNA PCR-Fluorescence Probing)

The recent outbreak of the swine influenza virus H1N1 subtype has led to a need for rapid detection and accurate surveillance of the spread. To address this global demand Aurora Instruments Ltd. is now offering a diagnostic test kit to detect this novel H1N1 virus. The kit is designed for in vitro quantification of influenza A swine flu subtype H1N1. Multiple sequence alignments and validation of this kit against a positive H1N1 patient sample ensure that this is an ideal kit for detection. The kit contains reagents for nucleic acid extraction, realtime-PCR detection and quality control.

Catalogue #: ABI - H1N1 Swine KK2009 Kit

Principles of the test

The kit has specifically designed primers as well as a composite fluorescent probe thereby allowing utilization of realtime fluorescent PCR. The genetic sequence of the influenza A /H1N1 can be targeted through realtime PCR amplification.

Key Features

The kit contains ready-to-use reagents, offers fast real-time detection and provides excellent sensitivity and high specificity. It is also optimized for use in automated liquid handling workstations. By combining this kit with Aurora’s VERSA™ workstations, laboratories can fully automate the amplification process thereby reducing cost and operator error, while increasing efficiency.

Product Features:

  • 24 tests per kit (25µL reaction)
  • Rapid detection of Pandemic Influenza H1N1 (2009)
  • Highly specific detection profile
  • High priming efficiency
  • Broad dynamic detection range (>6 logs)
  • Sensitive to <1000 copies of target, and can detect as low as 5 copies of the RNA in the sample
  • Accurate controls to confirm findings
  • Colour coded reagent vials

Standard Kit Contents:

  • Nucleic acid extraction reagent
  • PCR detection reagent
    • H1N1 reaction reagent (FluA) 1.0mL/vial
    • H1N1 reaction reagent (SWH1) 1.0mL/vial
    • H1N1 reaction reagent (SWFluA1) 1.0mL/vial
    • Internal reference reaction reagent (RNP) 1.0mL/vial
    • DNA polymerase 200μL/vial
  • Reverse Transcriptase 68μL/via
  • Quality control reagent
    • H1N1 positive control 100μL/vial
    • H1N1 negative control 1.0mL/vial

Dynamic range of kit

Under optimal PCR conditions the kit has very high priming efficiencies of >95% and can detect between 1X107 and 1X103 copies of the target template.

Handling & Storage Guidelines

Kit Storage & Shelf life - 6 months at -20ºC±5ºC. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided

Sample Requirements & Capabilities

Throat swab, respiratory tract samples such as nasopharyngeal secretions, and serum etc.

Sample collection, storage and transportation

The kit is for detection of the swine flu namely H1N1 RNA virus. Nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swabs or nasopharyngeal extraction. Specimens should be kept at -65℃ and shipped in dry ice after collection if they are not used immediately.

Disclaimer: This kit is not available for sale to Canada or the United States of America. The kit is for detection of the swine flu namely H1N1 RNA virus. Nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swabs or nasopharyngeal extraction samples and human serum samples can be used for the laboratory diagnosis and monitoring the particular virus infection. The kit is for research only, and should not be used in clinical diagnosis.
