VERSA Applications

Development & Validation of an Automated Workstation for HTS FLUX Assays

Automated liquid-handling systems have been invaluable tools for carrying out high-throughput assays in the drug discovery and development field. Aurora Instruments validated the VERSA 1000 Workstation for automation of the cold-flux assay, a cell-based functional assay used for high-throughput screening of ion channel drug targets. The flux assay protocol includes multiple reagent addition steps intermixed with multiple wash steps. All liquid-handling steps were carried out by the VERSA 100 and performance was comparable to manual performance (Z' factor, window of detection and IC50 of standard blockers).
